If you live in Denver as I do, sometimes a thick jacket can be a little much with all the sunshine we got - then wear a fur vest. An easy way to find one of those is to buy a fur coat in a thrift or a vintage store and then you can easily take off the sleves yourself - but remember to keep the sleves if you are going somewhere really cold.
